Sea Dome Programs

In our inflatable planetarium, participants explore ocean environments through 360 degree, 4K video footage that conveys the impact of climate change, the ocean’s critical role in regulating the climate, and how students, classes, schools, and the larger community can take action to help protect and restore the ocean. Guided by our expert educators, participants are encouraged to design actions to make a difference for the environment that fit the context of their everyday lives while going on a marine adventure. This program also features interactive presentations featuring our marine artifacts.

Sea Dome Full Day Program: five hours

Three program stations each spanning 20 minutes for a total of a one hour immersive ocean experience for each of 240-450 students (48-90 students per hour).

Sea Dome Half Day Program: minimum two hours

Two to three program stations each spanning 20 to 30 minutes for a total of a one hour immersive ocean experience for each of 80-180 students (40-90 students per hour).

Ideal for after school programs!

Artifact Table Programs

Immerse your participants in marine ecosystems from around the world with our marine artifact exhibit! By observing, feeling and even hearing the features of our artifacts, participants will learn about the adaptations required for survival in marine ecosystems. Led by our team of expert educators through the tropics, polar regions, and BC coast, you will learn about the diversity of marine habitats found across the world. Participants are prompted to learn about the impact of climate change on these habitats, and are provided with calls to action that have a positive impact on their favorite ocean animals.

Artifact Table Full Day Program: five hours

Two program stations each spanning 30 minutes for a total of a one hour immersive ocean experience for each of 150-300 students (30-60 students per hour).

Artifact Table Half Day Program: minimum two hours

Two program stations each spanning 30 minutes for a total of a one hour immersive ocean experience for each of 40-80 students (20-40 students per hour).

Ideal for after school programs!

Sea Dome Size: The Sea Dome is four metres tall by six metres in diameter and requires an indoor space and power outlet to set up. The ideal space for setting up is in a gym or other expansive, high-ceilinged space. Please make sure there are no additional users of this space on the date of your booking.

Mobile Vehicle Parking: Our truck and trailer span 35 ft (10.67 metres) and need space to safely park it, preferably as close to the presentation space as possible. Underground parking must be above 8 ft 10 inches (2.7 metres). Please be sure to allow use of accessible entrances, as our equipment is large.

Staff Requirement: A member of staff from the group must be present during the program at all times.

Scheduling:  The Sea Dome team follows your school's schedule; however, we often have to program through recess in order to fit five 60 minute sessions into the school day.

For adaptive programming, please reach out directly to mobile@ocean.org.

Please provide at least 2 weeks notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. If less than 2 weeks notice is provided, we are not able to accommodate a rescheduled Sea Dome or Artifact program.
